Meteor showers happen when little bits from asteroids or comets enter Earth’s atmosphere at very high speeds. Most of them burn due to friction when they enter the atmosphere, that is the quick flash of light we see during a shower!. Few of them would survive the fall and hit the Earth’s surface, those are called meteorites.
